DELL T340 ESXI builds a TrueNAS drive-thru drive

The DELL T340 is equipped with a PERC H330 Adapter controller that can insert 8 hard drives. The initial tutorial was directly through the iDRAC9 interface, forming a RAID column of disks, and then using it for ESXI.

ESXI builds the TrueNAS Core storage operating system

TrueNAS does not recommend using hard RAID modules, recommended to use the soft RAID mode in his system, so it is better to let TrueNAS pass through the hard drive.

First, I prepared 6 hard drives and plugged them into the DELL T340 server (I originally prepared 8 hard drives, but I didn't feel like I didn't need so many for the time being).

Two hard drives are RAID 1, and the remaining four hard drives are directly converted to non-RAID, as shown in the figure below:

Log in to the ESXI interface, you can click "Storage" - > "Devices", and you can already see the 4 hard drives that are pass-through, as shown in the figure below:

To create a virtual machine with a TrueNAS system, click Add Hard Disk > New Bare Disk, as shown in the following figure:

After starting the virtual machine, you can see that the hard disk can be detected normally on the installation interface, as shown in the following figure:

After the system is installed, you can create a new storage pool, and you can see the 4 hard drives that are passed, as shown in the figure below:

Stripe: 与 RAID 0 类似,传说中的带条,需要至少一块硬盘。
Mirror: 与 RAID 1 类似,磁盘镜像,需要至少两块硬盘。
RAIDZ1: 与 RAID 5 类似,一重奇偶校验,需要至少三块硬盘。
RAIDZ2: 与 RAID 6 类似,双重奇偶校验,需要至少四块硬盘。
RAIDZ3: 三重奇偶校验,独门秘籍,需要至少五块硬盘。
