Presumably, those who use the Microsoft Windows Vista operating system and have a penchant for "optimization" must have seen the "BCD00000000" item in the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE of the registry. And I bet someone must have deleted it, and exported it first and then deleted it. Then they will find themselves in trouble: Vista cannot be started, prompting "The Windows Boot Configuration Data file is missing required information", and cannot be recovered with an installation disc. REG file recovery is also not possible! To be honest, I almost deleted it too...... Hanging, fortunately, I checked the Microsoft knowledge base first.
BCD is actually Boot Configuration Data, which is the boot configuration data. Since Windows has improved its startup mechanism, replacing the original boot.ini with this BCD. In addition to the "BCD00000000" in the registry, 2 BCD files can also be found in the "boot" directory under the system partition. If these things are damaged, Windows certainly won't boot.
Fortunately, if you have deleted this registry key or BCD file, the system can easily fix it.
1. First delete the files named bcd under [System Partition]: \boot\, note that they are hidden files. If you only delete registry keys and cannot automatically recover them with the installation disc, you must delete these files first, otherwise the auto-recovery program will not detect the error and naturally cannot be repaired.
2. Insert the genuine Windows Vista installation disc, then restart the computer and boot with this disc. The installation disc in this step cannot be used with GhostVista or laptop recovery disk, it must be a standard installation disc.
3. Once you are in the PE system, click Next and then click Repair Computer.
4. Select the operating system you want to repair and click Next.
5. In the System Recovery Options dialog box, click Start Repair, and the repair program will detect the error and fix it automatically.
6. Restart your computer.
