SWIFT Inleiding SWIFT, ook bekend als de "Worldwide Interbank Financial Telecommunication Association", is een internationale samenwerkingsorganisatie tussen internationale banken, opgericht in 1973, en de meeste banken in de meeste landen wereldwijd hebben het SWIFT-systeem gebruikt. Het gebruik van SWIFT maakt bankafwikkeling mogelijk om veilige, betrouwbare, snelle, gestandaardiseerde en geautomatiseerde communicatiediensten te bieden, waardoor de afwikkelingssnelheid van banken aanzienlijk wordt verbeterd. Omdat het format van SWIFT gestandaardiseerd is, is het format van kredietbrieven voornamelijk in SWIFT-berichten, dus het is noodzakelijk om SWIFT te begrijpen.
