Knowing your enemy is key to planning and executing enterprise security, especially for distributed denial-of-service (DDoS) attacks.
The total number of DDoS attacks in the first quarter of 2014 increased by 47% compared to 2013; On the contrary, the average attack duration has been halved, from 35 hours to 17 hours, indicating that a clear understanding of "what attackers want to do and what they will do" can play an important role in "quickly responding to attacks". In this video, security expert Michael Cobb discusses DDoS attacks and mentions the latest DDoS technologies. He also explains what practices are effective in helping the attacked and reviews the techniques used to recover after a post attack.
