Xi Da delivered a speech at the Internet conference

On the occasion of the opening of the first World Internet Conference, on behalf of the Chinese government and people, and in my own name, I would like to extend warm congratulations to the convening of the conference. I would like to extend a warm welcome to government officials, heads of international institutions, experts, scholars, entrepreneurs and other guests attending the meeting!

In today's era, a new round of scientific and technological revolution with information technology as the core is emerging, and the Internet has increasingly become a leading force in innovation-driven development, profoundly changing people's production and life, and effectively promoting social development. The Internet has truly turned the world into a global village, and the international community has become more and more a community with a shared future where you have me and I have you. At the same time, the development of the Internet has posed new challenges to national sovereignty, security, and development interests, and it is urgent for the international community to seriously respond, seek co-governance, and achieve win-win results.

China is actively promoting network construction so that the achievements of Internet development can benefit 1.3 billion Chinese people. China is willing to work with all countries in the world to deepen international cooperation, respect cyber sovereignty, maintain network security, jointly build a peaceful, secure, open and cooperative cyberspace, and establish a multilateral, democratic and transparent international Internet governance system based on the principles of mutual respect and trust.

With the theme of "Connectivity, Sharing and Co-governance", this year's World Internet Conference responds to the common concerns of the international community about the major issues facing cyberspace. It is hoped that the guests will brainstorm, build consensus, contribute ideas, and promote the Internet to better benefit mankind.
