"Tongyin on Painting" was compiled by Qing Dynasty calligrapher and painter Qin Zuyong. The whole set consists of three volumes, and the methods of evaluating painters with the four grades of elegance, divinity, wonder, and ability are listed side by side. The first edition evaluates 124 painters (including ladies) in the late Ming and early Qing dynasties, the second appraisal evaluates 120 painters in the late Ming and early Qing dynasties, and the third appraisal evaluates 120 painters since the middle of the Qing Dynasty. Also attached are two volumes of "Tongyin Painting Tips". This is a vermilion ink overprint from the Tongzhi to Guangxu period of the Qing Dynasty, with a red criticism circle.
Nearly 360 painters from the Ming Dynasty to Daoguang were all judged on the paintings they saw, and the differences between painters (except for the ladies) were distinguished by the four products of everyone, famous artists and Yi, Shen, Miao, and Neng. The "Qing History Manuscript" said that it was 'strictly evaluated and slightly complete', which shows its value. "Tongyin Painting Secrets" in two volumes, written by Qin Zuyong. This book was revised by Qin's predecessors, focusing on landscape painting methods, from the pen to the method of moss, etc., which is enough to be a bridge for later studies. At the end of the book, there is a "On Appreciation", which expounds the doorway of calligraphy and painting appreciation, which is quite meaningful.
