The first big pit: a large number of Google resources such as built-in Google fonts

Both the WordPress front and back office have a lot of resources connecting to Google-oriented websites that are opening at unbearable speeds. Although there are plugins that block Google Fonts, they can still slow down your WordPress front and back office.

The second biggest pitfall: NextGEN Gallery, the most well-known image plugin for wordpress, can no longer be Chinese

WordPress's own image management function is very weak, and you need to rely on plugins to extend WordPress's image management. But since version 1.9.13, NextGEN Gallery can no longer be Sinicized. For old wordpress like both civil and military, it doesn't affect the use much, I can continue to use the old version of NextGEN Gallery. But for new players, this is really a big pit.

The third big pitfall: the very awesome TAG management function

TAG is the keyword manually added by webmasters to articles, and dedecms also has a similar function, and can even automatically extract tags. This feature is a good thing, and many WordPress template authors have developed the TAG tag collection feature. However, due to Baidu's special algorithm, it cracks down on irrelevant static result search pages. Websites built with a lot of wordpress were accidentally injured by Baidu due to the use of a large number of TAG. Due to its strong data capture and storage capabilities, Google does not care that the webmaster's extra TAG occupies its own resources, and is very friendly to tags and wordpress. But Baidu, which is rich and monopolistic, is so willful.

This algorithm is still hurting many wordpress webmasters, and it can be regarded as one of the sinkholes of wordpress. Some WordPress plugins can automatically transfer tags to internal links. Try it, the more you use it, the faster you die.

The fourth biggest pitfall: there is no Chinese developer documentation

WordPress does not have official Chinese developer documentation, so the number of original Chinese WordPress templates in China is not large. A few high-quality WordPress templates have been almost rotten by the majority of WordPress. A large number of foreign templates are not complete in Sinicization, and some people use Sinicized foreign templates to sell money. If you want to learn WordPress template development, you should learn English first.

The fifth big pitfall: the code is bloated, and the ability to resist attacks is really poor

The WordPress code itself is not badly secure, at least much better than dedecms. As a netizen said, hackers who can hack wordpress code have an annual salary of at least one million. But the ability of wordpress to resist attacks is indeed very poor, which both civil and military have a deep experience. Wenwu Shuangquan's personal website has been using WordPress since 2011, and the number of attacks during this period is no longer countable.

WordPress uses MySQL as a database, and you can get WordPress to MySQL without a few concurrent links. If you staticize the entire wordpress site and reduce the number of requests to mysql, you will find that the simplest CC attack can still easily hang wordpress. If you want to make your website to a certain scale and have ambitious webmasters, forget it.

The sixth big pit: garbage comments are flying all over the sky, and no matter how you prevent it, you can't prevent it

The seventh biggest pitfall: the title of the column page cannot be customized

WordPress can install plugins that allow you to customize the keyword and descrip{filter}tion tags of the column, but the title of the column does not allow you to customize. The title of each column and subcolumn defaults to this: column alias | Website Name. I dare to say that ten years ago, dedecms was able to customize the title of every column page and even the article page.

Of course, I also know that even if the title doesn't have the keywords you want to optimize, you can optimize the keyword ranking last time. But you can't deny that this is a big pit in Chinese search engines.

The eighth pitfall: WordPress's internal link function is extremely weak

You might say that you can find a bunch of plugins that make your WordPress automatically generate internal links. But what I want to say is that this is still a big pit. These plugins either don't support backlinks for old articles, don't support Chinese keywords well, or don't have Chinese language.

The ninth pit: GWF is so crazy that even Gavatar is on the wall

This paragraph was added by me on December 31, 2014, because I logged in to the wordpress background today and suddenly found a good card. F12 immediately looked at it, and the gavatar directly stuck the process. The front and back of wordpress must load user avatars from gavatar, and such a conscientious website can be strengthened by GWF. This is really the best example of governing the country according to law, which is not the fault of wordpress, but it is indeed the pit of wordpress.

The tenth pitfall: Everything depends on plugins

This paragraph was also added on December 31, 2014, and finally made up a perfect mess for wordpress. Although WordPress plugins are very powerful and numerous, this also means that WordPress's own functions are very thin. WordPress, which relies on plugins for everything, is often bloated because of too many plugins. Even a friendly link template needs to install a plug-in blog system, which can really be said to be crazy.

For Chinese users, what is even more pitiful is that we can only use foreign English plug-ins in most cases. High-quality Chinese plug-ins are also very rare, and there are many domestic plug-ins. So, if you want to use an English plug-in well, you have to work Baidu for half a day. Isn't this a pit?

It is undeniable that WordPress is indeed an awesome blog and even CMS system. But in the Chinese search environment, it does have a lot of pitfalls. So much so that I not only don't recommend wordpress like others now, but also try to persuade everyone to learn Chinese open source CMS. In China, only by doing well localization can we truly adapt to China's national conditions. It is recommended that you learn dedecms or imperial CMS, which are CMS developed by our Chinese ourselves, which can make any website with the same effect as wordpress.
