A well-known hosting service provider in the United StatesLinodeToday it was revealed on its official blog that its servers may have been hacked and dragged around. Linode found that three of the two servers used to store user credentials had unauthorized logins, and it is likely that the loginer had obtained the databases of the two servers that stored the credentials from Linode. The database contains usernames, user emails, hashed and encrypted passwords, two-factor authentication credentials, and Linode has reset all user passwords to expire for security purposes, and passwords must be changed the next time you log in.
Linode also has quite a few users in China, and many netizens have bought Linode's servers as website servers or used to build ShadowSocks. If you are also a Linode user, you should update your password and 2-step verification credentials as soon as possible through the Linode console. Linode said in a blog post that the entire team is working hard to find out where the problem is, and has invited a third-party security company to participate in the investigation, and federal government agencies have also been involved in the investigation. Linode concludes by writing: The security of your data, the functionality of your server, and your confidence are very important to Linode.
While we are also victims, we also know that it is our responsibility.
We are proud to provide the best security and service for your servers, and you can enhance the security of your account by using strong passwords, two-factor authentication, and not using the same password.
We sincerely apologize to you for your patience, understanding and continued trust in us.
Note: The Linode console password and non-host password that have been reset to expired are the Linode console password, and the updated password will be displayed after logging in here:https://manager.linode.com/
