New support for 64-bit technology with Intel EM64T will deliver outstanding performance and reliability to support critical mail and collaboration applications. 64-bit technology combined with a number of system enhancements provides balanced system performance. These system enhancements include support for large memory volumes (i.e., up to 16GB DDR2 memory through 8 DIMM slots) and new high-speed I/O via PCI-Express.
High system availability
x236's advanced usability enhancements greatly increase system reliability, helping to keep critical applications online. The versatility of integrated RAID-0, RAID-1, and RAID-10 or optional RAID adapters takes server versatility to a whole new level. In addition, the server supports IBM ServeRAID-7k, which supports RAID-5 without taking up any PCI slots. New memory availability, hot standby, and memory mirroring capabilities help minimize errors when running memory-access-intensive applications. The server can support up to 9 hot-swappable SCSI drives, hot-swappable fans, and power supplies, which will help keep components available for maintenance.
Simplify your infrastructure with system management
New and integrated system management features such as power control, text redirection, and IPMI compliance help reduce administrative time and expense. The new Remote Management Adapter II SlimLine Card enables virtual remote control of servers without occupying any PCI slots.
