The first time Tor was known was in a news report about Snowden.
Simply put, Tor is a software that allows you to access the web anonymously. Users can communicate anonymously on the Internet through Tor.
For anonymity purposes, Tor brings together computers scattered around the world to form an encrypted loop. When you access the Internet through the Tor network, your network data is sent in a roundabout way through multiple computers, like an onion wrapping its core to disguise your network activity, and the transmission of information is encrypted at every step, with no way of knowing where you are and where the information is being transmitted. Therefore, Tor Browser is also known as the onion browser.
Technically, Tor protects privacy by separating identity from routes. In a typical internet connection, you browse the web from a computer or route assigned your own IP address, and every request you send carries that address and the information returns from that address. However, when you use Tor, your chat message or URL is not directly connected to the destination address, but routed through Tor's network of volunteer nodes, passing through at least three nodes before exiting the Tor network and going to the terminal. The website that accepts your request does not know your IP address, nor does it know any nodes on the Tor loop except for the ingress relay. Most users don't feel the difference between surfing the web on Tor and using Firefox. However, the relay bypass does slow down the Internet, and the default settings disable some features, including video playback plug-ins, for security reasons.

Browser - Onion Browser. Onion Browser is a Firefox-based browser released by the Tor project team. In order to better make your anonymous browsing the Internet, please modify the browser's settings carefully.
The onion browser is very simple to use, run the installation package and select the installation location (the default location is C:UsersDesktopTor.)
